Sure can, when you understand the underlying meaning. You know, that it is difficult to distinguish between irrationality (religion, craziness, dumb) and general silliness (jokes, pranks, humor) because humor arises from unexpected conclusions or results. DEY LUK DA SAEM!

He was not referring to religion, and EVE as an entertainment product in no way resembles religious thought or construction. He was referring to a video game with obvious and finite limitations in scope and parity.
Making everything in life out to be insanely complicated and obfuscated is nothing more than a lack of common sense.
If you have to break out the psychology book every time you want to determine if someone is being serious with you or not in any written context that does not contain smileys, emotes, or otherwise, how could you ever read any such article in existence without a shred of doubt, including your own? You are universalizing a law based on a set of distinct properties, and applying it to everything around you.
The joke was obvious, you don't need a psychology book to argue that it wasn't, just a little common sense.
